| As all sorts of new media emerge and network technologies develop continuously,the communication methods of media are altering radically.Diversified visual forms have created different visual experiences among their targets.Thus,we have entered an picture-reading era,filled with visual pictures.Meanwhile,people have discovered several new problems in picture reading or visual communication.On one hand,people have obviously felt that visualization is increasingly apparent,impacted intensely by information.On the other hand,the fraud of pictures,replacement of photos,digital processing of news photos,etc,have created visual fraud in obtaining real information.In such case,how can people correctly understand,judge and identify real visual information,faced with a great deal of mixed information? As a matter of fact,this capability has been a prerequisite of media literacy.The audience have to enhance their picture-reading capabilities relentlessly and cultivate their visual literacy to get accustomed to the development of visual communication era and identify the reliability of visual information.Thus,it’s quite necessary to study the issue of visual recognition and visual fraud.This paper studies the visual recognition and visual fraud based on mass media from the perspective of communication.Chapter 1-Introducton.This chapter clarifies the background,purpose and significance of research,classifies related literature and background documents,and explain the innovation,process and method of research.Chapter 2-Classification and Definition of Basic Concepts.This chapter clarifies and defines visual communication and picture concept,analyzes the process of visual recognition of human being,and introduces the transition between cognition and recognition.It’s described that people perceive information on the visual surface,analyze the information in brain,understand the result of analysis,make understandable judgment of visual information,and propose theoretical evidence for visual identification,such as visual cliff experiment,Gestalt psychology,semiotics,horizon of expectation(Jauss).The judgment is based on basic visual elements.Based on visual communication of graphic media of mass communication,chapter 3 introduces and analyzes the visual components of graphic media,the organization relations between visual components,the advantage and representation of graphic pictures.Also,it proposes relevant theoretical evidence,such as the third-effect theory and visual center theory,to define the organization relations between visual components from the perspective of visual arts.According to the dual coding theory of Paivio,it is found that the combination of pictures and words creates the most apparent advantage in image communication.This chapter is the media base of the research on visual fraud in chapter 4.Chapter 4 takes the image information communication of the most representative newspaper in mass media as an example,by which to analyze the issue of visual fraud in visual communication,define the concept of visual fraud,summarize the methods of visual fraud,study the cause and impact of visual fraud and put forward responsive strategies against visual fraud.The audience can identify the reliability of visual information,avoid visual fraud and ensure effective communication of real visual information. |
