Optical fiber sensing technology is developing rapidly. It is increasingly applied to other than the field of communication in other fields. Compared with traditional sensors, fiber-optic sensor has a unique advantage, first of all fiber-optic sensor is both the body of perception and transmission that avoid the signal conversion. Second, the optical fiber itself, lower-cost, anti-corrosion, anti-interference ability, able to monitor a larger range, suitable for deployment of distributed monitoring systems. It is very suitable for monitoring large-scale projects such as road slope, water conservancy project, bridge, power network,communication network.Using the advantages of optical fiber sensor, this paper mainly designs the intelligent monitoring system based on OTDR optical fiber sensing technology. This system is composed of remote monitoring unit,central server and client. Using the wireless transmission module, the monitoring unit measurement data sent to the server for client analysis and display. The system has many advantages such as active measurement, dynamic monitoring and alarming. It relieves traditional monitoring from a model that relies on human testing and passive monitoring. The system also integrates GIS functions to further improve the location of the fault point to determine the efficiency and shorten the troubleshooting cycle, a fundamental increase in the monitoring efficiency and reduce the loss caused by the failure.
