In communication optical networks, wavelength conversion is a research hotspot, as well as an important component of all-optical signal processing. Compared with the traditional conversion technology,all-optical wavelength conversion technology improves the speed of transmission and the flexibility and scalability of the network effectively.Meanwhile, all-optical wavelength conversion technology reduces the rate of network blocking, which has important significance of related research fields.In this thesis, we focus on the characteristics of silicon based microring resonator and its application in wavelength conversion, and discuss the quasi phase matching technique in four wave mixing. Different waveguide materials are chosen to make microring resonator. On this basis, the performance of each scheme and the factors affecting the conversion efficiency are analyzed.This thesis includes the following aspects.Firstly, the transmission equation of silicon waveguide is derieved. On this basis, the coupled mode equations describing the nonlinear effects of four wave mixing and two-photon absorption in silicon are derived. The basic model of microring resonator is introduced briefly. And the theoretical analysis and discussion of the factors that affect the coupling coefficient of microring resonator are also discussed.Secondly, A quasi phase matched wavelength conversion technique based on four wave mixing of silicon based microring is presented. The theory of wavelength conversion based on four wave mixing in silicon optical waveguide is analyzed. The basic theory of wavelength conversion in silicon microring is presented. The factors affecting the conversion efficiency are analyzed. Based on the theory and simulation, describe the method of using the four wave mixing process to realize automatic quasi phase matching. It is proved that the wavelength conversion efficiency is improved without changing the waveguide structure. At the same time,analyze the changes of the conversion efficiency with the pump power and affected by the linear loss and nonlinear loss during the transmission process.Thirdly, The nonlinear effects such as self phase modulation, cross phase modulation and four wave mixing in AlGaAs waveguide are derived.Wavelength conversion based on quasi phase matching technique in AlGaAs waveguide microring is analyzed and discussed. The quasi phase matching technique is used to realize wavelength conversion on the silicon nitride waveguide micro ring. Finally, analyze the conversion efficiency of SOI, AlGaAs, silicon nitride waveguide materials microring resonators and the factors that affect the conversion efficiency.
