With the rapid development of mobile communication technology and mobile terminal, the mobile streaming media service is getting more attention, following by the higher requirements put by users on the transmission performance of communication network. Heterogeneous network architecture and multicast transmission mechanism, which have advantages on capacity and spectral efficiency, will bring new breakthroughs to the development of mobile streaming media. In this paper, we will do effective research on multicast transmission mechanism of mobile streaming media in heterogeneous network. The main contents and results of the research are as follows:In view of the problem that the mobile streaming media service is in high demand on the speed and the capacity of the network, we introduce multicast transmission mechanism to the heterogeneous cellular network, and propose a multicast scheme with subgroups over heterogeneous cellular network. The process is decoupled into three steps: user association (UA), subgroup formation (SF) and resource allocation (RA).In UA, a traffic-oriented access method based on reference signal receiving power (RSRP) is proposed. In SF, a multi-rate multicast scheme is proposed by dividing users into subgroups based on their channel state information (CSI). In RA, Round-Robin strategy and Equal Power strategy are adopted for subcarrier allocation and power allocation respectively. Simulation results show that the system throughput is significantly improved by using multicast transmission mechanism in heterogeneous cellular network.Based on the above research, a QoS-based multi-rate multicast scheme over heterogeneous cellular network is proposed in consideration of the co-channel cross-tier interference between macro base station(MBS) and small base stations (SBS) and the requirements of the quality of service (QoS). The FFR (Fractional Frequency Reuse) strategy is introduced and a rate-guaranteed resource allocation strategy is proposed. With the research of QoS-based multi-rate multicast scheme over heterogeneous cellular network, the simulation results show that the QoS can be guaranteed without reducing the system throughput.
