With the development of science and technology, phased array antenna technology is more important in radar system,and is widely used in military field. Phased array antenna has many advantages, such as the control of its scanning beam, the scanning speed and the high activity of the beam. It has been widely used in radar, ground air defense radar, unmanned airborne radar and satellite radar. However, the existing planar phased array antenna is limited by the mutual coupling effect of the array element, the direction of array element, the impedance matching and so on. For ordinary planar phased array antenna, the optimal range of scanning can reach ±60 degrees, the radiation of the phased array antenna is wider than that of the antenna. How to broaden the scanning angle of phased array antenna, it is an important issue and key technology to improve the performance of phased array antenna.This paper aims at the key technology to broaden the phased array antenna scanning angle,the pattern reconfigurable antenna unit to replace the traditional phased array antenna unit,greatly broadens the range of effective scanning phased array antenna,solves the problem of phased array antenna with large angle scanning, obtained results are as follows:Firstly, the gain fading caused by the large angle of phased array antenna is studied, and the equivalent aperture area is reduced. The gain of the antenna array is provided by the reconstruction of the phased array antenna.Secondly, design a large angle reconstruction pattern of a high gain, narrow beam scanning phased array antenna unit. The unit is a microstrip patch antenna with three kinds of reconstruction mode, which is based on the dielectric buried technology. Through the simulation experiment and the direction angle of reconfigurable antenna unit design of scanning phased array antenna scanning angle can be widened to ±80 degrees based on the verification, and greatly improves the performance of phased array antenna.Thirdly, present a greater beam deflection angle in the reconstruction mode of pattern reconfigurable antenna unit,and the design of large angle scanning phased array. The unit is still used in microstrip patch structure, which has three kinds of working mode, and the direction of the main lobe pointing to the angle of the main lobe is more deviation from the direction of the end. Through the simulation experiment based on the large angle of pattern reconfigurable antenna unit design of phased array antenna scanning angle of ±85 degrees validated,to further broaden the scanning range,to capture the key technology of large angle scanning phased array antenna.
