Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Network is a distributed Cognitive Radio Network merged from Cognitive Radio technology and Ad Hoc network. Compared with traditional Ad Hoc network, the influence of primary users' activities makes Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Network environment more complex, channel resources and topology structure change over time and space. These may not only cause more difficulties in reliable communication for secondary users, but also bring a challenge towards the research on reliability of routing protocols.However, the exist research results of Cognitive Radio Ad hoc Network routing protocols mainly focused on improving network throughput and lower latency paths, etc., lacking of the guarantee on reliable communication.Accordingly, this paper provided a reliable communication routing method for Cognitive Ad Hoc Network to improve the network end-to-end transmission quality.This paper described the background of Cognitive Radio Network firstly, then described the relevant research status of Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Network routing methods, and then analyzed the value of this research and technology challenges. Based on the activities of primary users and channel management,. this research built a routing model of Cognitive Ad Hoc Network with the use of cross-layer technology. Then combining the influence of primary users' activities on authorized channels, the concept of reliable time was introduced to design reliable routing metric, so as to determine a reliable path in unreliable network environment. Finally, towards the problems of intermittent connectivity and routing re-discovery raised by node failures or link failures, a local repair scheme based channel managing, and a backup path mechanism based on the irrelevance of path were proposed,which could guarantee the reliability of end-to-end transmission from the aspect of route maintenance.The experimental simulation results showed that the raised CARC routing protocol could not only reduce the routing overhead, but also improve the packet delivery ratio and success rate of link repair, thus ensuring the reliability of communications in Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Network with complex environment, ultimately achieving the desired research objectives.
