Throughout history,as a phenomenon of human society,homosexuality went from belonging to a socially marginalized group to gradually being brought to the media attention and into the public eye,thus experiencing the process from ‘voicelessness' to openness.Nowadays it has become a globally discussed topic,with several countries legalizing same-sex marriage.The homosexual population in China is huge,however,relevant research seems to be lacking.Metropolis as a market-oriented newspapers,greatly influenced public attitudes.This paper applies the methodology of corpus-based critical discourse analysis to the study of a corpus of reports on homosexuality published on metropolitan newspapers in the fifteen years during 2002 between 2016 collected by Wise News Database,mapping and discussing the diachronic changes and changes in the regional distribution of the reports,by carrying out frequency and concordance analysis,combined with micro-discourse analysis tools.The study shows that major metropolitan newspapers actively promoted the agenda of constructing a discourse around homosexuality with ideological tendencies and selectivity,influencing the attitude and views of the people living in those vegions,but at the same time,being market-oriented,metropolitan newspapers also cater to the audience's mentality,continuously changing their dissemination tactics,and expressing to a certain degree care towards the homosexual population.Some degree shows their attention for homosexual,Changes in the discourse constructions and reporting of the homosexual issue are in mutual,dynamic interaction and go hand in hand with the attitude change the whole of society on the phenomenon of homosexuality progressively moving in the direction of tolerance towards this social reality.The news still shows stereotyped and conservative tendencies.
