The Designation And Implementation Of LTE ENodeB's Signaling Gateway

With the development of mobile communication technology,current 2/3G network cannot meet the ever growing needs by users for throughput and new services.As a result,in December,2004,3GPP(3rd Generat Partnership Project)group initiated UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunications System)long-term technology evolution project.The signaling gateway of LTE micro base station is a network device applied to distribute pressure from LTE micro base station to EPC(Evolved Packet Core)'s S1 interface.This thesis researches the technology of how to implement LTE micro base station's signaling gateway to mainly solve the signaling aggregation function and performance issue in signaling gateway which aggregates micro base station's signaling.First,this thesis introduces and researches LTE network architecture and the protocol technology between base station and MME.Then,it analyzes the protocol data flow distributed by the signaling gateway of LTE micro data base and researches how to realize the key features of the signaling gateway.This research adopts SCTP(Stream Control Transmission Protocol)as the communication protocol between micro base station and signaling gateway,and between signaling gateway and MME.There are multiple protocol types of 3GPP regulation existing between the Micro base station and MME,and the signaling gateway of LTE micro base station needs to process and transmit these protocols.To solve the packet load generated during the communication between a large number of micro base stations and signaling gateway,and ensure the processing performance of signaling gateway,this research employs multithreading and SCTP one-to-many feature.This thesis achieves the main features of signaling gateway based on the overall system architecture design.At last,the application test for the signaling gateway of LTE micro base station was conducted a by accessing real micro base station and emulated core network MME were finished in my company lab.These tests are mainly referred to consistency of 3GPP's S1AP protocols(including UE(User Equipment)access,paging,offline and so on),simultaneous access of multiple micro base stations,pressure,etc.The test result is as expected to fully meet the application requirements for the signaling gateway of micro base station.
