The Analysis And Test Of SCTP Software Modules

Mobile communication system is developed from 2nd generation network based on SS7 to 3rd and fourth generation based on IP packet switching network. In order to meet the objective requirements of the new technology is backward compatible and protect the operator huge investment in the tradition signaling network. At the same time, the operator investment should be protected in the signaling network. We must solve the signaling and voice bearer interworking between traditional circuit networks and IP packet networks. So the transmission of traditional SS7 over IP network communications problems need to be solved. Therefore, it is necessary to achieve the signaling interworking between IP network and SS7 network.IETF Signaling Transport Working Group solve the transmission of traditional SS7 over IP network and define signaling transport protocol (SIGTRAN) to solve the conversion and interworking between TDM SS7 network and IP network.Firstly, this paper start from the development of telecommunications networks and the INTERNET, analyze the practical needs of the traditional SS7 and IP network interworking. Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of TCP/UDP protocol in the IP network, the inherent shortcomings of existing TCP/UDP protocol unable to meet the communications network signaling and orderly, real-time and highly reliable, redundant transmission requirements. By studying the SIGTRAN protocol stack architecture, the adaptation layer protocol model and its features to meet the requirements of the communications network signaling transport.SCTP software module is developed on the ATCA hardware platform and TOMIX carrier-grade platform. This paper is focused on the main function module of the SCTP protocol and antilyzes the establishment and release of the association, data receive and send, congestion control, fault management and timer management, and other aspects of SCTP function part. Test environment is set up in laboratory, I design test cases and finish function test of SCTP software module. A detailed analysis of the problems encountered in the test process. Summary unsolved problems, those problems need be solved in next software version.
