Virtual instrument technology refers to controlling high performance hardware based on the flexible and efficient computer software.In the field of virtual instrument there is the statement that software is instrument.Virtual instrument technology has the advantages of low cost and flexible.Electronic tongue is an instrument that simulates the working principle of human taste system.However,most of the electronic tongue system is designed and realized by hardware,and the cost of this device is very high and its function can't be adjusted flexibly.Therefore,using virtual instrument technology to develop a new generation of electronic tongue system which can improve the system function and reduce the manufacturing cost is of great significance.In this paper,the functional requirements analysis,overall design and detailed design of the software system of the electronic tongue platform are carried out.And the software system based on LabVIEW is programed included an excitation signal data generation module,a data acquisition card configuration module,a channel selection and time-sharing switching module,a data storage module and a data processing and analysis module.The pattern recognition algorithms of principle component analysis,cluster analysis and partial least square regression are programed in MATLAB and then embedded into the electronic tongue software system.Combined with high performance hardware,the electronic tongue platform is constructed in which integrated with the functions of generating excitation signal data,response signal data acquisition and analyzing with pattern recognition algorithms.Finally,by using this home-made system,4 brands of orange juice,4 kinds of flour and 3 kinds of tableware detergent were detected,respectively.The pattern recognition algorithms were used to distinguish the orange juice brands and predict the purity of orange juice with water,identify the flours' brands and predict residue of detergent.The results show that this home-made system can be applied to experimental detection and provides a new reference for the research and application of electronic tongue system.
