In recent years, China's optical communication network size is constantly expanding, optical communication network market has become increasingly large,increasing demand for fiber optic cable. Fiber preform is the most important raw material in the production of optical fiber and cable, but the prefabricated rod manufacturing technology and its high production requirements, capital investment,the cost of manufacturing preforms has been high, so the preform manufacturing technology Basically long-term monopoly by foreign companies, leading to more than 90% of China's fiber optic preforms need to rely on imports, a serious impediment to the development of China's optical communication network. Development of large-size preform, the development of China's optical fiber preform manufacturing process, the domestic fiber preform preparation technology to achieve industrialization, the development of optical communications, has become an important issue in the development of the industry.On the basis of comprehensively expounding the status quo about optical fiber preform bar and its production technology at home and abroad, this topic is proposed a technology route for the manufacturing of large size preform bars using docking process, and it explores new ideas of process for the production of large size preform bars. Systematically it also studied the influences and improving methods of docking process to joints' dislocations, joints' bubbles and the surfaces of the preform bars.Effective ways to producing preform bars in large size which used this technology were explored from this topic, so that the efficiency of the fiber drawing is improved.The main research contents and the results are as follows:1. Made a detailed process flow and operation steps, and, in the operation steps detailed lists the required process parameters, the docking process development for the preform prepared the parameters of the detailed records.2. Through the core positioning technology, docking nod unit improvement plans and the outer diameter of the docking control technology dislocation core issues improved; bubble butt problem by improving the internal structure of control technology; by torch position, the proportion of hydrogen gas flow size, flame residence time to do many tests to adjust validation,surface fog problem solving; by flame control technology to solve the water peak docking problem. The problems encountered in developing preform docking process are all solved.3. The successful development of the preform docking technology to produce large-size low water peak optical fiber preform, from before each drawing only 500km fiber optic rods, each of the rods to the current 900km optical fiber can be drawn. The improved production efficiency is 21.5%, the release of labor intensity is 14%.
