With the proposal of the concept of the Intelligent Space,the signal connection and energy supply for large amounts of multi-modal sensors in the space became difficult.For this reason,a novel period sheet structure was brought out to establish the signal connection and energy supply.As a sheet structure which can support surface wave,it provides free location of sensors on its surface,and this is the advantage over the traditional microwave transmission lines that can only establish a kind of one-dimensional connection between spot and spot.Meanwhile,the attenuation of the EM wave along the surface is much smaller than the wave propagating in the three-dimensional free space.With these two merits,it provides a feasible solution for the signal connection and energy supply of the sensors in the intelligent space.Due to its differences with one-dimensional connection and three-dimensional connection,it was named 2DTS,which means Two-Dimensional Transmission Sheet.2DTS was proposed by the University of Tokyo in 2004,due to its short history,many aspects relevant,such as the analysis of transmission mode and the transmission property,design of new formal coupler,the communication system and energy supply system based on 2DTS,remain blank though considerable achievements was achieved.This paper conduct some research on theory analysis and design of new-type coupler.These researchs are summarized as follows:First,we propose a method based on Fourier transformation and wave equation,and for the first time,calculate the amplitude of space harmonics precisely.With this method,we can get a more clear understanding of the physical mechanism of 2DTS.This method can also be applied to the analysis of similar structures like surface impedance modulated antenna.Then,we mainly carry out the calculation and the analysis of surface impedance of 2DTS in a method which was originally used by our team in surface impedance modulated antenna.This work provides convenience for energy leakage calculation and choice of initial size of coupler.At last,based on parallel plate waveguide that can propagate TM wave,we design a new-type coupler with high efficiency and compacted size.We also explain the mechanisms of the coupler and the reason for its high efficiency and compacted size in the view of field distribution.Besides,we carry out the analysis of the coupling features of the designed coupler when put on the 2DTS.The simulation of several couplers on 2DTS reveals the flexibility of two-dimensional transmission.
