The Design And Implementation Of A Customizable Desktop Integrated Searching Tool

This article aims to design a desktop searching tool which meet the demand of the author's colleagues in using Internet search engines.The users are researchers of a small research institute who use Internet search engines a lot while lack the skill and technique of using them.Therefore they find it troublesome in looking for specific information online,especially when time is limited.This software the article discussed is to facilitate achieving information online.For one thing,this tool is capable of integrate searching results of four general search engines so that the users can get results from different search engines filtered and sorted by doing one query which will significantly alleviate the workload.On the other hand,this software is also customizable for users to choose plumb search engines of all kinds to get access to information which are more specialized.This article illustrates the meta-search engines and plumb search engines,right after the brief chronicle of search engines as the users' demand change.After the compare and analysis of the merits and defects of meta-search engines on merging and sorting results,this article provides the main functions,the conceptual model of user interests,system and database structure,as well as the method of filtering and sorting of the searching tool.
