Study On News Scathing Criticism Program From The Perspective Of Post-modern Culture

Based on post-modern culture, this dissertation uses Bai Yang Talk Show, a TV news scathing criticism program, as a study case with a review of its connotations, features and background, trying to make studies about its post-modern features and performance. Through this study, the author attempts to reveal that, influenced by post-modern cultures, audience and news programs have unintentionally begun to practice post-modern culture and scathing criticism is just a kind of reflection to that. The popularity of scathing criticism among audience is a great indication for its further development.By adopting the research methods of sociology of news production and some on-site conversations, in-depth review together with analyses on scathing criticism texts, this paper has made significant innovation values about study methods and theoretical approaches. Through logical approaches, the paper first makes comprehensive descriptions of TV news seathing criticism and then concludes its post-modern culture characteristics.The first chapter illustrates two reasons for taking Bai Yang Talk Show as the study case and then put forward the research purposes, ideas and methods. After that, the theoretical summary is conducted about research results on post-modern culture and news scathing criticism.Chapter two makes a description about the development process of literature scathing criticism to news scathing criticism and further explanations about the connotations and features of TV news scathing criticism.Chapter three first conveys the basic profiles and three phases during the past six years of Bai Yang Talk Show and then analyzes the types of topics, talking styles of hosts, program features after a quantitative study on seventy five episodes of the talk show.Based on the above studies, the fourth chapter analyzes the performance and characteristics of TV news scathing criticism from the perspective of post-modern culture and then summarizes its unique traits such as irrational discourse expression, trivial narration, duplicated way of production and blurred history concepts, etc. After detailed analyses about the characteristics of the audience and the social contexts, the fifth chapter states the future development of TV scathing criticism and its meanings.The conclusion part affirms that post-modern culture has had influences on the media and audience, which have led to the emergence of TV news scathing criticism. Therefore, more all-round studies on news scathing criticism should be conducted in the further research.
