With the development of science and technology,the structure of human knowledge is becoming more and more complex.Nowadays,it is becoming more and more difficult to solve a problem by relying on a single subject knowledge.The relatively isolated disciplinary boundaries need to be broken,and interdisciplinary research comes into being.On the basis of combing the context of interdisciplinary research,this paper divides the interdisciplinary research into four time periods.Internationally,this scientific behavior and phenomenon of interdisciplinary research is called Interdisciplinarity.In the process of quantitative study of interdisciplinary,a series of research methods and indicators have emerged,forming the basic framework of interdisciplinary research.From the point of index and measure,interdisciplinary and diversity of species in ecology have great similarities.But many scientists are confused that the most widely used interdisciplinarity does not truly reflect the status of interdisciplinary research;as the most classic diversity index,can not reflect the diversity of biological communities.In ecology,some scholars have pointed out that the classical species diversity index in the measurement process ignores the relationship between different species.There are similar problems in early interdisciplinarity indicators,ignoring the interrelationship between different disciplines.In fact,the different disciplines formed by the integration and diffusion of knowledge,are inextricably linked.In order to reveal the true face of interdisciplinary research,this paper introduces the generalized Hill type diversity measure Dq.At the same time,in order to introduce the interrelationship between disciplines into interdisciplinary measure,this paper puts forward the research method of classification and coherence from the perspective of co-occurrence,and establishes the co-classification matrix and subject similarity matrix based on discipline.The disciplinary similarity matrix is integrated into the generalized Hill type diversity index Dq,and then get the interdisciplinary index qDS.Based on the new interdisciplinary measure,this paper puts forward the research methods of classification coherence and the concept of similarity degree between disciplines.And based on those,it puts forward the basic framework of interdisciplinary research.On empirical research stage,this article studies the followings relying on this basic framework:1.Based on Co-Classifaction and the similarity between disciplines under the Web of Science system,it studies the correlation between the disciplines.2.Study the similarity between patent IPC classifications in the field of integrated circuits;3.Study the Interdisciplinary status of scientific research in various regions of China;The theoretical and empirical results show that ignoring the interrelationship between categories can lead to the distortion of interdisciplinarity indicators.The classification method and interdisciplinary research framework established in this paper can effectively integrate interdisciplinary research into interdisciplinary measure.At the same time,it should be noted that interdisciplinary indicators reveal the degree of interdisciplinary research of an object,as well as interdisciplinary research structure,and it should not be used for assessment and evaluation.
