Fission And Fusion Of Interdisciplinary Research Topics Based On Topic Similarity

The research fields of various disciplines are constantly expanding and gradually breaking the traditional knowledge barriers between disciplines with the advent of the era of big science,which results in different disciplines with a common research topic.However,when different disciplines study a same topic,they often start from the perspective of their own disciplines.As a result,the study topic is integrated with its own disciplinary characteristics,so the same topic has different applications and developments among different disciplines.It can not only help researchers to grasp the trend of science and technology development,but also help broaden their horizons,master the key technologies of different industrial development,and enhance industrial competitiveness through discovering the evolution paths of different subjects.Therefore,It has become a hot issue for academic researchers to find interdisciplinary research topics from rich and diverse scientific and technological literature and study the evolution path of these topics.Based on LDA model and topic similarity calculation,this paper analyzes the fission and fusion of interdisciplinary research topics from the perspective of topic.This research focuses on solving the following problems:(1)To establish the relevance of research topics between different disciplines.(2)To solve the problem of similarity calculation of subject keywords.(3)To find the related topics,determine the evolution path of topic fission and fusion in the time series.This research consists of five parts:(1)The research background and significance of the fission and fusion of interdisciplinary research topics and the innovation of this research are introduced.This paper also reviews the research status of interdisciplinary topic fission and fusion at home and abroad,including LDA topic model application research,interdisciplinary topic discovery,topic fission and fusion research.(2)The research contents and directions of vector space model,LDA topic model,topic fission and fusion are summarized.(3)Based on all literatures published in the CSSCI catalogue of Sociology and Journalism and communication from 2015 to 2020,the research topics are extracted through the LDA topic model and transformed into the topic space vector model.The subject similarity matrix is obtained by using the subject similarity to screen out interdisciplinary research topics with strong relevance in sociology and journalism and communication.(4)Based on the experimental data of Sociology in six time windows from 2015 to 2020,the topic extraction and strong correlation topic selection are carried out to determine the fission,fusion and evolution path of interdisciplinary research topics.(5)The results and conclusions of the research are summarized.The improvement suggestions are provided based on the research's limitations.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)Subject dictionaries of sociology and Journalism and communication are constructed in order to guarantee the effect of LDA subject model.(2)Based on LDA theme model and theme similarity calculation,six pairs of interdisciplinary research topics in sociology and journalism and communication in 2015-2020 are found,respectively: Social policy and media development,livelihood issues and social values communication,youth development and APP promotion,fan culture,youth values and intelligent push,floating population and cultural communication,rural poverty alleviation and rural cultural construction(3)Based on the calculation of topic similarity and the judgment mechanism of related topics,it is found that in the interdisciplinary research topics of sociology,“caring for left-behind children” and “Internet fan culture” do not appear continuously in the time series.Topics such as “Social Policy Research”,“Health of the Elderly”,“Employment of Migrant Workers”,“Equality of Women”,“Growth of Youth”,and “Floating Population” show different degrees of fission and integration in 2015-2020,while the theme of “Rural Poverty Reduction” does not show fission and integration in the time series.Based on the LDA theme model and topic similarity calculation,this study explores the interdisciplinary research topics of sociology and journalism and communication,and reveals the fission and fusion evolution path of the interdisciplinary research topics of sociology from an interdisciplinary perspective.The program compiled in this study is also applicable to other disciplines,and has guiding significance for the discovery of interdisciplinary research topics and the judgment of topic fission and fusion.The innovation of this research are as follows:interdisciplinary research topics are discovered by using topic vector space model.The phenomenon of fission and fusion of interdisciplinary research topics is analyzed based on topic similarity.
