With the development of microelectronics technology, wireless sensors and other low-power electronic devices are widely used. However, most of these devices are located in harsh environment and inaccessible place. Therefore, the conventional power units have been impossible to meet the demand of the emerging technologies for electricity due to its own drawbacks. Vibration energy is a kind of new environment energy, it can be recycled and converted into electrical energy to power the wireless sensor-specific environment and other devices. Thus, it has become an issue of concern to many researchers that how to collect vibration energy and improve its utilization.Firstly, the paper summarizes recently research situation of vibration energy harvesting techniques, then analyzes their shortcomings, and finally proposes a multi-degrees-of-freedom vibration energy harvester based on the piezoelectric and magnetoelectric effect with wide frequency band. Subsequently, based on the vibration energy harvester principle, a multi-degrees-of-freedom energy collection device is designed with elastic amplifying system, and the effect of this system to dynamics output performance of the device with different structural parameters is analyzed. After that, this paper combines piezoelectric and magnetoelectric effect and optimizes their energy conversion characteristics. In the end of this paper, the experimental prototype is fabricated and tested.The results show two vibration peaks whose spacing is shorten with the change of structure parameters in different frequencies. Eventually, the two vibration peaks form a wide-band window, which proves the designed vibration energy harvester has a broadband collection characteristic. The experiment also verify that compared with the piezoelectric or magnetoelectric energy conversion system, the piezoelectric-electromagnetic energy conversion system improves the overall output performance.
