Currently the main methods for target detection are visible, radar and infrared systems. These methods have been fully developed. They have their own advantages but also some inevitable problems. Passive millimeter-wave(mm-wave) imaging systems have attracted an increasing interest over the past years due to their superior poor weather performance compared with the other systems. Radiometer is a kind of receiver with high sensitivity. Millimeter-wave imaging simulation helps explain and predict the millimeter-wave radiation phenomenology. The simulation method of millimeter-wave radiation imaging of maritime target is researched in this dissertation. The main works are as follow.Based on radiometry and emission theory, the layered media radiation model and the millimeter-wave atmosphere radiation model are analyzed. The radiation model of maritime target is described combing the radiation of objects and their background. The simulation method of complex scene is researched, including modelling, facets dividing and optimization, ray-tracing, brightness temperature calculating and antenna pattern simulation. In the process of ray-tracing, multiple reflections, polarization rotation are considered. To verify the process, the experiment of complex scene millimeter-wave imaging in the outdoors is carried out.Based on the millimeter-wave imaging simulation method, a simulation process of millimeter-wave imaging of maritime target is established using Matlab. The brightness temperature and the antenna temperature of a ship are simulated and analyzed.
