The infrared polarization imaging guidance technique is the key element of the development of the high accuracy guidance techniques. Nowadays, whether military or commercial, we pay more attention to sea ship target recognition technology. In recent years, many algorithms have been put forward for the recognition and tracking of ship infrared polarization imaging target, which have good effects on static image. However, image processing is characterized by great operations, so in the engineering project, these algorithms will not necessarily function well on the moving object, and the real-time problem will become more important. For these reasons, this paper analyzes the algorithm about infrared polarization image of coastal ship, and presents a complete recognition algorithm according to the characteristics of the polarization image.Firstly, from the point of the infrared polarization imaging technology, it summarized the status of the technology both local and overseas. Then it analyzed the features which about infrared polarization imaging of coastal ship targets. According to these characteristics, it made ashady about the infrared polarization image enhancement technology. Secondly, a real-time recognition algorithm of ship infrared imaging target is proposed, whose real-time nature is analyzed in detail. First, the binary image is produced by clustering method, next, some blocks which is smaller than given structure element are eliminated through morphology filtering. After that, in order to keep the target's shape well, the possible target region is obtained by section region growing technique. Finally, it distinguished the target using the comprehensive fuzzy synthetic judgment.While analysising algorithms, it compared to other more typical similar methods, and analysised the wavelet transform and grayscale transform. Finally, selected the best algorithm and conducted software simulation. The results show that this system can achieve the purpose of the request.
