Today's society is in an era of rapid development, with the deepening of industrialization, pollution problems gradually become a common topic that people concern. Especially, water pollution has more and more attention. From today's environment we can see that, water resources are not enough, so that economic development has encountered challenges, it has become the obstacle to sustainable development. Polluted water also have a greater harm on human health, because it led to the contamination of the property changes, while the deterioration of water will damage our human living environment, destroy the ecological balance. When carrying out the necessary human social activities, water resources is one of the activities that necessary. So, for water pollution problems, how can accurately locate the position of the water pollution, to assess the extent of contamination, and thus on the water for the corresponding control.Firstly, the paper clarify the significance of wireless sensor network monitoring and pollution sources location, reviewed the status of wireless sensor network coverage and location problems. Then, discuss four issues of intelligent monitoring pollution sources, namely small and medium sized reservoirs spread of contamination problems, the sources of medium and small reservoirs chemicals, concentration problems of tributaries, mobile contamination(diffusion) source localization. Again, based on reservoir optimal path method to trace pollution sources,proposes localization algorithm based on hexagonal water pollution medium and small reservoirs,This algorithm can not only according stratification of different concentrations to chase chemical sources, at the same time,consider the impact of the motion of water. Finally, following the flow characteristics of small and medium reservoirs to build pollutant dispersion model,complete water pollution Positioning experiment simulation algorithm based on small and medium sized reservoirs hexagon, results show that the algorithm can be used a limited number of steps to achieve the purpose of tracking to find the corresponding Location of sources, meanwhile it can be prevented kept circling in a region. And the use of ZigBee wireless sensor networks are discussed based on the problem of data transfer.
