The aim of this paper is to explore a general assembly method which based on industrial robots, so that robot automatic assembly process can apply to more industry or field. First, we explore parts of a mathematical description method, and then build the representation of parts assembly relations from the assembly relationship between two parts, and then establish general assembly process description method in the basis of the above. In addition, we study the automatic assembly line based on the industrial robot, it is needed to establish the corresponding relationship between the number of robot joint and the assembly movement. With the guidance of the theory, we design automatic assembly production line which based on industrial robot and use the third-order Rubik's cube and Fuel injection pump as the research object, this example elaborate the application process of the above theory and verify the feasibility of the above theory, what are the advantages and disadvantages, and then analysis automatic assembly process which based on the industrial robot, study design process of robot assembly cell using this assembly line as an example.The design process of robot assembly workstation cell include robot cell layout, making plan for assembly process, function analysis and robot cycle time analysis, assembly system configuration and typical examples of designing two automatic assembly lines based on Industrial Robot. Finally we summarize the design features of the robotic assembly workstation cell.Through this topic research, we initially form a set of theory of the system which based on the theory of industrial robot automatic assembly technology and using example analysis and verify the feasibility and summing up the advantages and disadvantages. That can provide some reference for the behind research study courses who related to the problem. If we can play a role in the field of industry or more and drive the robot automatic assembly large number of applications, that will be the expected results.
