Video editing technology is widely used in the field of video teaching, advertising, and film post-processing. How to simple, and easily create the user needed video has been a topic in related fields. Existing video editing technology is mainly divided into two types: linear video editing technology and non-linear video editing technology. Linear editing technology is a kind of editing method of using tape, which uses electronic means based on the needs of the program to splice the material into a new continuous picture, but now is rarely used. Nonlinear editing technology uses the digital compression technology to compress the video. Only by a computer to perform the function of post-production. At present, the technology is used by most of the video editing software. Nonlinear editing technology has a characteristic, that it will directly modify the video data. So it becomes almost impossible to remove a specific effect in the edited video. To some of the editing needs, for example teaching video editing, the existing non-linear editing technology can't meet the needs.To solve these problems, this thesis proposes a new method of video editing. This method can effectively solve the problems existing in the current video editing method. And on this basis, a software system is developed to edit and play video, which verifies the feasibility of the method. By using an intermediate file to store the editing information, we can edit video without modifying the original video data. The editor needs to modify the intermediate file, so it becomes possible to edit video many times. This paper fist studies the video encoding and encoding technology, and then describes the whole structure of the system and the sub modules in detail. Second, this paper designs the structure of the system and the module it needed, focusing on the design of intermediate file format. After encoding the type and property of the effects, this paper designs a complete and reliable intermediate file format. Then the core module of the system is realized. At last, building the test sample to test the function of the system, and the experimental test results are also summarized and analyzed.Experimental test results show that this system is complete and stable, and can finish the task of video editing and broadcasting. The feasibility of the method of video editing based on intermediate file is verified, and the goal of the paper is achieved.
