Video surveillance is an indispensable part in a monitoring system of the Internet of Things.However, since the video image occupies a large space, and the communication bandwidth is limited,and the hardware facilities of storage space is not infinite, so video compression encoding is needed. At the same time, the user through a browser to monitor their own Internet of things.So it is necessary to design a browser interface with the user interaction, and enabling users to view data which they want to monitor.This thesis studies a video image compression method, which combines the frame prediction, motion estimation, motion compensation, DCT transformation and variable-length encoded. After the video was pretreated first with a time frame prediction eliminate redundant image, then use the DCT to eliminate spatial redundancy, and finally the use of variable length coding method to eliminate visual redundancy. Decoding process is reversed.The results show that using this method to achieve efficiently compressed video images, to improve the transmission rate of the video images and shorten the transmission time.This thesis also designed a user-friendly management interface of a monitoring system of the Internet of Things. It includes user registration, user login and user management interface, and has simple style and clear structure. It also has good user experience and to meet their needs. So it is a user-friendly interface.
