Seed is the fundament of agriculture so that the quality of seed plays a key role in the food security.The seed quality test with standard technical architecture not only provides quality safety for crop seeds in terms of production,transportation,storage,and sale to protect enterprises benefits and national food security,but also improves the level of agricultural production.The crop seeds traceability and management system,which provides traceability services for farmers,enterprises and supervision departments,can further enhance the quality supervision of crop seeds.Combining biotechnology and information technology,we developed a multi-terminal platform,which includes traceability system,query system,and supervision system,based on the concept of seed identification and two-dimension code.The platform,which and run and tested by the provincial enterprises on the packaging project of wheat variety,preliminarily achieves quality managements and services for crop seeds with scientization,professionalization and informatization,and then we proposed a new concept called “the internet of things for seeds”(ITS in short).In order provide more intelligentized traceability services for farmers,enterprises and supervision departments,the integrated information platform of ITS needs to be constructed comprehensively,and the information traceability & service architecture networks for links of crop seeds industry,i.e.,seed breeding,seed protection,seed review,seed propagation,seed production,seed circulation and seed sale,need to be explored deeply.The key research contents are showed as follows:1)Management and protection of intellectual property rights,this paper put forward the construction of crop variety identity card(ID)and set up variety ID management system.Take example by human ID,The variety commodity information,the fingerprint information,combining with the specific genetic information to construct crop variety.Then we set up some variety ID management systems.2)Based SSR Fingerprinting and product information,build rice ID.On the basis of preliminary studies,further analysis determined by the 12 SSR markers rice core label group(each chromosome 1),127 rice varieties in Anhui Province approved the fluorescent marker,was constructed rice molecular fingerprinting,combined with the variety of goods information,digitally encoded information 127 rice and rice constructed identity.Some different crop variety identity cards(ID)about wheat,corn,soybean,cotton was prepared by this way.3)By using seed DNA fingerprint-based crop variety identity card(ID)technique and electronic product code(EPC)technique,a set of electronic product code technical programs for crop seeds was designed and applied in commercial seeds with two-dimensional code as the information carrier,which provided a new solution of seed quality tracing and seed industry supervision for seed consumers,enterprises and management departments.4)The establishment of ITS platform.Using crop variety identification as information link,the ITS platform(http://www.seediot.com)we developed has already started to run,and more sub-systems are adding into ITS platform.From 2014,we have entered into collaboration intention with many companies(TianYiQing,LongPing,HuiShang,FengBao,and JiaNong),and more than 10 varieties of crop seeds,which belong to four kinds of crops(wheat,rice,maize and soybean),have been used for trial application of ITS.
