In recent years, augmented reality gradually comes into peoples' vision, and has already become a hot research topic. The mobile and interactive ability of augmented reality has drawn great attention. With the progress of science and technology, smart mobile devices have more functions, and gradually enhanced processing capabilities. Now Android system for mobile terminals is most popular, and its prices have various levels of choice. Most importantly, the mobile terminal of hardware has been an unprecedented increase, such as camera, gyroscope, and accelerometer, which are used for mobile phone and also provides an unprecedented opportunity of development for enhancing the popularity of augmented reality technology. In light of people paying more and more attention to the interaction, Android 4.0 version provides a Wi-Fi Direct API for developers, which provides a possibility for the multiple mobile phones connected together without hot spot supported.On reflection on the above problems, this paper based on research and design of Vuforia SDK to develop augmented reality projects. This paper is written in combination of the Android Wi-Fi Direct and augmented reality so as to provide functions and real-time interactivity for the augmented reality software. The basic design idea of the augmented Reality system's introduced in my paper as follows: Firstly, Vuforia SDK on Android phones let the software achieve augmented reality function, and we add mobile application to this software. Secondly, we add Internet capabilities to the system on the use of Android Wi-Fi Direct API. Finally, multi-party interaction is realized and tested.This paper introduces some basic information of the augmented reality and some important technical principles are studied. We make an in-depth discussion of different interactive communication methods. Comparing with the different communication methods, we obtain the final selection. After that, we build the development environment for reality augmented. Then the whole system's demand analysis is studied. In design and implementation phase, we build the modular system and describe the work of each module. Secondly, we test the molding system with all necessary functions performance. Finally, we make a necessary instruction about some of the shortcomings of the present system. In this paper, the communication of Wi-Fi Direct on reality augmented provides us a reasonable solution for the shortage of Wi-Fi hotspots. It is positive significance for the future of reality augmented.
