As a common signal source,the arbitrary waveform generator has a wide range of applications in modern electronic measure area. The core technology of waveform synthesis of arbitrary waveform generator is the direct digital synthesis technology, with sampling frequency and memory depth as its two critical performance indexes. With the increasing of the operating frequency and complexity of the measured object, higher requirement are also put forward for the output waveform complexity and bandwidth of arbitrary waveform generator. Selecting a fast access speed and large storage memory device as the waveform memory is the most convenient method to improve performance. As a fast access speed and large storage capacity memory, DDR2 SDRAM is suitable for the research and application of high-speed and deep storage arbitrary waveform generator.Aiming at the question above, this thesis mainly makes a study on the arbitrary waveform generator based on the DDR2 SDRAM. The main contents are as follows: 1.According to the read-write features of DDR2 SDRAM, analysis the feasibility of its application as a waveform memory, and establish a overall design program, which is using DDR2 SDRAM as waveform memory and PCI bus as transmission channel of waveform data. 2.Design a DDR2 SDRAM controller based on FPGA, which implements the writing and reading of waveform data. 3.Complete the development of the DMA function driver program of PCI bus' s interface chip PCI9054, the driver can achieve high-speed transfer of waveform data. 4.DCFIFO is adopted to process the non-continuous system data stream, in order to realize the proper storage and output of waveform data.
