With the development of radar technology, the accuracy of target parameters have become increasingly demanding. At the same time, the number of the targets and the processing time is increasing for the processing range becomes larger. The parameters of the target and the time of the processing all influence the output of the subsequent processing of track. In order to the track information accurate and reliable, accomplish the precision extraction of plot, good performance of plots centroid processing system is particularly important.This paper accomplishes the design of a radar plots centroid method and realization on the Power PC processor. Firstly, it introduces the composing of the radar video, analyzing the formation reason for the false plots and spilt plots. Specially it introduces the factor which influence the spilt in the distance and azimuth and analysis the distribution of plots in the distance and azimuth, providing for the method and rules of centroid processing.According to the above analyse, this paper gives out a planar centroid method based on distance and azimuth. This method combine the plots belongs to the same target by judging the continuity and superposition in the azimuth. Calculate the position of the target by the means of center of the mass. For the immobile target, a judging method and rules are given out. The feasibility of the method is also make out.This paper also introduces the hardware Platform based on Power PC and the software platform Workbench. Especially the whole radar data processing is described, the tasks are arranged and realized according to the hard ware components.Finally, the effect of plots centroid processing in the distance and azimuth is verified using the real data. The true position of the real data is matched by the means of the least square method according to the different distribution in distance and azimuth, the precision of the center of the mass is given and the validity is also proved compared with the centroid method and peak method based on the real position. Optimize the algorithm of plots centroid processing based on the support for vector processing technology of the processor. Test shows that it is effective to reduce the running time and increase the efficiency.
