Automated test methods can be defined as a process which converts manual testing into machine testing; therefore, it can save manpower, money and time, etc. TTCN-3 is a kind of scripting language which is specially developed for testers, and is the only internationally standardized testing technique. It has efficient and powerful messaging adaptation function. When applied to testing of protocols and services, TTCN-3 has unique merits such as simplicity, high efficiency, and reproducibility. To send and receive any custom messages through the host, i.e., to communicate with the equipment, the testers only need to describe the message structure and the state machine diagrams of the protocols in accordance with the protocols. In this paper, Hotspot 2.0 is studied based on the TTCN-3 automatic testing platform. The main work includes:1. A test case design of Hotspot 2.0 is proposed. From two perspectives of normal message and exception message, a simulated mobile terminal sends GAS Initial Request and GAS Comeback Request, and receives the air messages through Wireshark, thus conducting the protocol conformance verification.2. Function verification test is performed on the online condition of the mobile terminal using Hotspot 2.0. Some IOS phones and Android phones are selected in the test. By importing corresponding configuration files into their systems, the phones can get online with Hotspot 2.0 under both EAP-PEAP authentication and EAP-TLS authentication.3. In the viewpoint of the protocol, considering the case that when there are a large number of concurrent online users. All the users need to receive the information of the Hotspot 2.0 through the GAS messages. In order to increase the network throughput, the unicast response is replaced by multicast response. In addition, from the perspective of reliability, the concept of Block Ack is introduced to improve the traditional multicast. Theoretical analysis is performed on the unicast response, traditional multicast response, and optimized multicast response. By MATLAB simulation, the optimal throughput and reliability are obtained.
