In the we-media era, it is the development of smart phone applications, social networks and image technology that jointly push people to take a selfie and share in the social media. Screens are occupied with people's photos. In this study the author combines individualism motivation research paradigm and practical motivation theory to find out why people are so crazy to take a selfie and share. Investigation shows that: the motivation will change if people take more selfies. When people take a selfie and share in the social media for the first time, not all of them have a clear motive, which is different from the result based on individualism motivation research paradigm. According to R?pke's practical motivation theory, the author investigated those taking selfie first time without a clear motive, and find out they are actively doing pre selfie pratice. Their first selfie can be regarded as the extension of their pre selfie practice, which is rooted in other social practice. People take a selfie and share in the social media for the first time may have a clear motive, also may not have a clear motive, which is explained by combining individualism motivation research paradigm and practical motivation theory. In addition, the author find that, when people take more selfies, they will realize they have a clear motive. This discovery changes idea about having a constant motive to take a selfie and upload. In the fifth part, the author talk about the social and cultural logic of taking selfies and upload. Different people have different motivation to continue take selfies and share in the social media, such as self display, attracting concerns, share and social interaction, entertainment, convey identity or emotion, which have a close relation to the social contexts. After the industrial revolution, the gossip society ceased to exist, but we still want to peep. Today, we live in a era of “everyone peep”. In addition, some people take selfies and upload in order to play a role or seek self identity. In the last part of the thesis, the author talk about the influence brought by network selfie: we want to peep, but our bodies was tame, the "beauty" of the body we see is so similar; we want to show ourself and convey the identity, but we can not do that with excessive beautification, a true "self" disappear; we want to interacte on the internet, but we can only hear "echo" of our own; we attract attention, but we are exposed at the same time. Finally, the methods for solving these problems are also suggested. We live in a new era and we enjoy ourselves, but we should be soberly aware of our situation.
