In modern wars, the battlefield environment and target features are becoming ever more complicated, and the survival of a single radar is facing serious threats. As an effective scheme to improve the survival of a single radar, radar network system can improve the tracking accuracy and ECCM capability of a radar system, enhance the target detection performance, and consequently realize early warning and detection of the key areas and targets effectively. In this thesis, the basic theory of target detection algorithm and target tracking algorithm for radar network system are studied firstly, and then we develops the simulation system of distributed radar network system, to provide the experimental platform for the performance verification of an algorithm.In this thesis, the research background and significance are introduced firstly. And then it describes the main content and the overall framework of the thesis. On this basis, the principal contents of this paper are outlined in the following three parts.In the first part, it mainly introduces the techniques of signal fusion detection and multi-sensor target tracking for the distributed radar network system. In the signal fusion detection technique, the detection performance of signal fusion algorithm based on the Cell Average Constant False Alarm Rate algorithm is studied, under the condition of known noise power and unknown noise power. In the multi-sensor target tracking technique, the centralized target tracking algorithm and distributed track fusion algorithm are studied respectively, and the target tracking performance is evaluated for each algorithm.In the second part, the architecture of cooperative detection for distributed radar network system is studied, the simulation platform based on Local Area Network is built, and finally the software development process of the simulation system is realized with the assistant of MATLAB Parallel Computing Toolbox and MATLAB Graphic User Interface. The principal work of this part includes the framework design of the simulation system, the display of high-resolution map, the sub-module modeling of the system, the signal processing flow of each system node and the design of the parallel program.In the third part, it introduces the method of installing and using the software of the simulation system of cooperative detection for distributed radar networking system, and demonstrates the advantages of the current signal fusion detection algorithms and multi-site target tracking algorithms. Compared with target detection results of a single radar, improvements of cooperative detection performance of distributed radar network are illustrated.Finally, the works of the thesis is summarized systematically, and the outlook for the future works is pointed out.
