Laser triangulation technology has the advantages of high precision,non-contact, fast detection speed, simple structure and simple signal processing, and it has a broad development prospects in the field of engineering survey. With the rapid development of modern manufacturing technology, the requirement for the shape detection of industrial products is also increasing, and series of requirements, like high-precision, high-speed, non-contact, miniaturized, intelligent, digital are proposed. In this study, a laser scanner based on a single point laser triangulation displacement sensor and a high-speed rotating polygon mirror is proposed, describing the measurement principle and building a prototype, carrying out a series of experiments combined with the measurement system calibration process. Through this study, an effective way to achieve a three-dimensional shape of the detected object is explored, and high-quality point cloud data for the establishment of a CAD model is also provided.This paper is organized as followed:1.By researching on the measuring method and apparatus of the surface shape detection in recent years, combined with the need of laboratory for specific shape detection, a method for the rapid detection is proposed.2.Analyzing the principle of the entire measurement system, including mathematical models of laser triangulation method, linear CCD works, properties and applications, and finally completing the design of the overall system solution.3.The measurement system components are selected reasonably, including the laser source, the optical system, linear CCD, the high speed rotation mechanism, frame grabbers, etc., and determining the parameters of the mechanical structure of the system according to the measurement principle, including the design of fixed and adjusting mechanism of each device.4.Describing the process of data collection, and studying on the image of the laser spot which linear CCD acquisition, analyzing the different methods spot centroid extraction, and comparing their advantages and disadvantages. Then introducing the measurement system calibration method based on non-parametric model and designing calibration process.5.The experimental platform is introduced simply, the target spot centroid extraction results are compared through the experimental prototype, the extraction algorithms for the system is elected, and then verifying the stability of the measurement system and Carrying out the experimental measurements, the measurement error result is analyzed at last.
