Chinese version "Running man", jointly made by SBS(Seoul Broadcasting Corporation of South Korea) and Zhejiang TV, has been maintaining the high audience ratings since the program made its debut in China and other Chinese-speaking areas. Up to now, the fourth season is being recorded, edited and broadcast and has gained some regular audience. The version "Running Brothers" in Zhejiang TV is based on "Running Man" made by SBS.CSM, media research, indicated that this program got the second place in the ratings among the province-level TV and took up a big market share after the first episode of the first season came out. From then on, the rating is going up.In order to make the program nice and fresh, the management team designed different themes in accordance with the different cultural features of the places where the running men went. The game is arranged according to the theme, under which the participants and the guests play different roles so as to win finally. The winner will get the final big prize. The program also spreads some positive values, such as bravery, unity, persistence, besides bringing humor to the audience. The changing plot and the perfect game setting make the audience feel more interested.While the program is becoming more and more popular in China, there still exists much controversy over the program. Even before the program was imported, some fans posted articles online, persuading Zhejiang TV not to bring it to China and believing that it will fail in producing its Chinese version. Faced with such hard circumstances, Zhejiang TV insisted on his determination and worked very hard to make some big improvements. The program’s great success in China, eventually, made those opponents shut up. It has become a life-saving straw to import some programs with foreign copyright for many local TV stations. Why this program has met with huge success in China is really worth studying. This paper aims to make a little contribution to the development and innovation of the variety show by checking out the program’s form and content and analyzing the reasons of its success.
