Class-attendance has become an integral part of the teaching management in most universities.However,there are obvious shortcomings in the traditional ways such as calling the roll and swiping ID card.Those ways have been unable to meet the current requirements of the class-attendance in most universities.With the improvement of the biometric identification technology,fingerprint recognition system,which is regarded as the most widely used and the most mature technology,has become our first choice.Even so,it also has many other problems,such as limited application scope,poor extension,installation difficulties,and high maintenance cos.In view of the above problems and the teachers' requirements of the attendance system,we designed the main functions of the attendance system,the routing algorithm of communication networks,database and software architecture.Then we put forward a network fingerprint attendance system,which based on ZigBee network,for the environment of teaching building in the university.The system uses ZigBee network to deploy the network and it runs the energy-balanced routing algorithm we proposed for ZigBee building network.This algorithm overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional algorithm in ZigBee network and extends the network lifetime.The system software,which is based on the four layer software architecture and Model-View-Controller framework,used B/S pattern development,so that it greatly improves the efficiency of class-attendance,simplifies the workload of teachers,reduces the cost of system development and maintenance,and makes the system more easy to expand.Finally,the simulation results show that the proposed routing algorithm can effectively prolong the network lifetime,and the software testing results also show that the results are consistent with expectations,the system software can run stably and meet the requirements of the university class-attendance.
