Based on the research topic of Research on the key technology of gateway station and tester system in Geostationary Mobile Radio Release 1 mobile satellite communication system, it is part of the development of mobile satellite communication terminal tester in physical layer. Built on software radio structure based on Linux operation system and FPGA platform, this tester is developed mainly by Python and C programming language and it has accomplished the verification task of physical protocol consistency. To meet different testing needs, this tester can be switched between two modes: local test-script test mode and united protocol-stack test mode.Based on the research on the software architecture of the whole tester system and each module function, the tester accomplished the digital baseband signal processing procedure of traffic channels as well as the design and implementation of the adapt layer between the high-level protocol and physical layer by Python.During the development of this terminal tester, the author undertook the interoperability test with the terminal all by oneself. At present, the validity of baseband signal processing procedure in physical layer has been proven in the local test mode. And, the united test mode has enabled the terminal registration procedure and two-way real-time speech based on the digital baseband interface.
