Design And Implementation Of Paperless Examination System

With the fast development of the Internet and computer technique, extensive application of computers as a medium has penetrated through various fields of society. In the field of vocational and technical education, examination is a vital link of the teaching activity chain. However, the traditional examination, which uses paper and pens as main tool, is criticized for test paper making, organization, printing, distributing, invigilating, appraising, statistics, analysis, etc. Abovementioned works lead to difficult organization coordination of several departments, huge consumption of manpower and material resources, inefficiency, lack of objectivity and fairness, which are the disadvantage of the traditional examination. Under the background of information and low-carbon environmental protection, to build networked, intelligent, integrated, full-coverage, distributed paperless examination system based on computers is an inevitable trend for higher vocational and technical education reform.Paperless examination system based on computers and the Internet, with higher exam working efficiency and higher operability, makes examination management break through the bottleneck of time and space, and gradually becomes a research focus in the field of education management. So lots of domestic or foreign theoretical research results and practical technical results related to paperless examination system spring up. Dalian Staff and Workers College(&Dalian Commercial School) is a typical vocational and technical school, whose students examination paper is characterized by large amount of questions, objective questions such as single choice questions, multiple choice questions and judgment questions occupying a bigger proportion in the examination papers. Traditional examination mode has some shortcomings that some students' cheating behavior often occur, exam organization processing is very complex, teachers have a lot of examination paper to read and appraise. Paperless examination system will provide a great opportunity for our school education and examination reform.This paper will state significance and application background of paperless examination system, analyze state-of-the-art of domestic and foreign paperless examination system, and explore some techniques, tools or algorithms involved in system to be developed. Considering the examination characters of Dalian Staff and Workers College(&Dalian Commercial School), this paper developed a integrated-function paperless examination system with these modules covering identity verification, question bank management, examination management, stochastic pumping test, online examination, marking management, score query, test paper analysis and statistics. This paperless examination system in my thesis is based on B/S framework, using MySQL as supporter database, adopting PHP technique for developing system, via Dreamweaver aiding design webpage, and via phpMyAdmin realizing MySQL visual. In order to maximize the stability and safety of system, the mechanism to control random access is set, via restricting users access to system, adopting forbidding no access and preventing SQL inserting.The execution of this system will replace traditional examination mode based on pens and paper, with test bank, intelligent test paper combination, simulation test, achievement statistics. The system not only completes examination task, but also connects to education system seamless. The system for Dalian Staff and Workers College(&Dalian Commercial School) with higher safety and practical worthiness, according with information and low-carbon trend, is suitable for teachers and students, and contributes positively for information education and management in our school.
