The Use Of Humor In Comedy Variety Show

In 2014,satellite TV stations have launched many popular comedy variety show.These programs after making packaging in every kind of ways,through the TV screen joy to the audience and promote the diversification of television program.Many of them have achieved win-win success of ratings and reputation.The extensive using of humor is a phenomenon that can not be ignored.In this context,the present article is based on the ontology of the program,select the popular show “Laugh out loud”of Hunan satellite TV as the research object, according to the theory of linguistics and television arts,divide the humor of the comedy variety show into language humor and situational humor,then study its pattern of manifestation by quantitative analysis.This article argues that,we are lack of the research of the comedy variety show at present,let alone the humorous form,only start from successful cases can we have better understand humor and its importance.So this article adopts content analysis,semi-structured interviews to research,combining quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis to explore the expression form of humor which is revealed in comedy variety show.Furthermore,the outcome can also provide guidance and inspiration to the same type shows,which need improvement and creation.As an example to “Laugh out loud”,The article found, language humor and situational humor in comedy variety show have following characteristics:1?The rhetorical of hyperbole and irony are used far more than the language of ambiguous and complex.2?Elaborating language to pursuit the strong dramatic impact.3?Interior settings are more than location settings,and scene design pursue some form of innovation.4?Stage props are more than furnishings props.
