Nowsdays, different scientific research institutions which manage scientific data of their own have specific jurisdiction. But in some cases these data which belongs to different institutions can not play a role independently which means one institution needs to get data from others as a reference. Therefore, data sharing is an inevitable trend. So far, scientific research institutions basically have their own information system. But nearly each of these system which has their own data storage standard deploy on different platforms and use different database systems.In this situation, data exchange that use manual methods will encounter very significant difficulties. Thus, in this thesis, I design and develop a data exchange engine to exchange data automatically.First, based on the status quo of data exchange, we understand the deficiency of the current practices and summarize the demand. Then, through learning about the main data exchange technology now, this engine is divided into four parts: data acquisition module, security mechanisms, data dumping module and task configuration module, each of them has been designed and implemented successfully. Technically, the data exchange engine utilizes Java EE platform, Brower/Server mode and Web Service to implement data transfer. Besides, we use DH key exchange algorithm to get the secret key which will be used to encrypt data. And data signatures are used to avoid MITM(Man in the MiddleAttack) caused by DH key exchange algorithm. Finally, the performance is tested and the results are analyzed.
