With the sustained and rapid development of network technology, some multimedia applications will take up a lot of network resources, bringing sharp bandwidth consumption and network congestion problems,such as live Webcasting, telemedicine, distance learning, Web TV, Web radio, and real-time videoconferencing. Multicast is different with unicast and broadcast, it effectively solves the issue of point-to-multipoint data transmission. But IP multicast also has some shortcomings, such as poor reliability of the transmission, packet out of order, difficulties in guaranting safety. During the IP multicast software development, more systematic and rigorous software testing must be performed in order to ensure stability,reliability and security of the IP multicast software of multi-service routers.In terms of the actual needs of Hangzhou H3 C Technologies Co., Ltd, a software testing scheme of the IP multicast software of multi-service routers is analyzed, designed and executed. The main contents include:(1)The working principles and different characteristics between three versions of IGMP protocols are described; the processes and characteristics of working mechanism of PIM-SM multicast routing protocol are analyzed.(2)Based on the theory of software testing and the characteristics of IGMPv1/IGMPv2/IGMPv3 protocols and PIM SM protocols, the software testing strategy is devoloped; The software testing demand analysis and software testing scheme of IP multicast software of multi-service routers are also expounded; The principles, standards and procedures of test case design are finished.(3)During the testing execution of the IP multicast software of multi-service routers, which includes configuration testing, functional testing, protocol conformance testing, performance specifications testing, stress testing, abnormal testing, combination testing and interoperability testing, I found some bugs of software system and peripheral modules. Through analyzing bugs, recurring bugs,submitting bug reports and helping the developer identifying bugs, my work increased the stability of the IP multicast software system effectively, and finally achieved the requirement of the official release version after passing the evaluation testing of the Test Center.
