With the rapid development of mobile hardware and intelligent operating system, the mobile which is portable and functional diversity has greatly changed people's life. Its scope of application has also been extended to the field of engineering. Visualization and interaction 3D product model on mobile devices can help engineers to realize geometry information and the design intent in no time. However, there is a huge contradiction between the complexity of the 3D product model and the characteristics of mobile devices with limited resources and low performance. It becomes an urgent problem to realize visualization and interaction 3D product model on mobile efficiently with limited computing and storage capacity.Firstly, this paper analyzed the characteristics of the mobile devices,and did research on the bottleneck and optimize strategy of rendering after the graphic system of the mobile devices were introduced.In order to be able to display the 3D product model on mobile devices quickly, this paper presented a multilayer lightweight model expression method. This lightweight model did compressing, filtering and optimization on the original model to reduce the file size and improved the display speed on the premise of keeping its availability.Then this paper researched the lightweight algorithm. To reduce the quantity of data transmission in the rendering process, this paper presented a method to find the hided parts in the assembly automatically. And this paper also presented a general, linear time vertex cache optimization method to improve the vertex cache hit ratio.Finally, this paper designed and implemented a lightweight model browser based on Android platform after the integration of the lightweight model with visualization technology on mobile devices was researched. Results showed that the model browser can display 3D model quickly on the premise of keeping its availability and validity. It meets the practical requirements of browsing 3D product model on the mobile devices for the engineers.
