| The advanced manufacturing technology of smart phones and the rapid development of wireless communications bring unprecedented development opportunities for the mobile service market in China. The application range of a mobile phone becomes much wider, and the traditional phone service has extended to wider information service. What's more, Location-based service becomes more and more popular. LBS have many features, such as mobility, practicality, binding nature, immediacy and personalization. All of these features have attracted a lot of companies to develop LBS, and LBS have become one of the most popular mobile services. Especially, as an important part of LBS, mobile map service has obtained explosive growth. The mobile map service is a location service associated with the user's location, which provides to position the user and friends' location, query surrounding points of interest and query routes via WAP or client.Hence, developing a user interface of a smart phone becomes urgent need. As the requirement of mobile information service, traditional call-oriented mobile interface is inadequate. A browser interface becomes new need. Traditional browser is designed for fixed terminals, and focused on HTML textual information resources. Additionally, mobile devices have some unique features, such as small screen, limited power, low mobile bandwidth, frequent disconnection. Therefore, designing a good user interface for a mobile device-oriented browser, especially for a smart phone, becomes a new challenge. Moreover, we are designing a map-based browser, which is more challenging. This paper will try to meet this challenge.Mobile map-based browser, which combines the real-time nature of wireless communication, global sharing information of Internet and rich geography data, makes it possible to communicate and handle information anywhere and anytime. Currently, mobile map-based browsers in use are focused on real-time navigation, location search, public transportation query and other basic operations, but little or never consider mobility, uncertainty, group cooperation and intelligence required by mobile users. In order to solve the problems mentioned above, this paper designs a smart phone oriented map-based browser. Different from a text/picture browser, this browser is designed as geography and mobile cooperation based browser, which is user oriented and user favorite object oriented. It follows the user interface design requirements, and its functionality includes screen adaptability, personalized map, traditional communication, community collaboration, and yellow page search, points of interest push, routs query, and history information query. All of the above features are associated with maps, so as toachieve an intuitive, dynamic information display. Finally, combined with my project practice in the institute, we implement a smart phone oriented map-based browser, and demonstrate the software through interface display. |
