In recent years, the application of multicast technology in Ad Hoc networks is increasing. However, according to the inherent characteristics of wireless Ad Hoc networks, the existing multicast protocols are difficult to guarantee the requirements of quality of service and the reliability.A Load-balanced and Coding-aware Reliable Multicast Protocol for Ad Hoc networks was proposed. A Load-balanced and Coding-aware routing metric is designed, this thesis defines Load-balancing factor to measure the-load status of the node and the Expected Transmission Time with Coding to measure the coding gain. The new route metric ETTCL (Expected Transmission Time with Coding and Load balancing) combines the above two factors to select the high throughput path, which not only has the potential coding opportunity but also be able to prevent the overflow in the coding node. In route establishment process, a multipath multicast tree was built according to different business needs and ETTCL metric. As for the data transfer, a network coding method which can withstand the effect of link failures was designed through adding spatial redundancy and reducing the transmission rate, and use this network coding method to encode the data for transmission. The coding-aware load balancing and reliable multicast protocol LCRM was simulated and analyzed in NS-2 simulation platform. The results show that the Load-balanced and Coding-aware Reliable Multicast Protocol LCRM has good performance in reducing the end-to-end delay, routing overhead and improving the network throughput.
