Fano resonance effect, which had been presented in1961, is drawing more and more widespread attention in fields of highly sensitive sensing, low threshold optical switch and potential application of modulation due to the steep slope of its spectra line shape. In recent years, scientists have been exploring new structures which can generate Fano resonance effect and the research work about the Fano resonance effect based on the ring resonator devices is ongoing too. In this dissertation, we theoretically analyze four kinds of coupled fiber ring resonator structures which can produce Fano resonance lineshapes respectively. Besides, we are intend to use these structures in the application of sensing field.Firstly, based on the theory of coupled ring resonators, the research course of coupled ring resonators and their potential applications, we introduced the transmission matrix theory. On top of that, we presented the research course of Fano resonance effect and the bright application prospect of it.Secondly, we make numerical simulations of the output Fano lineshapes of the proposed four kinds of fiber ring resonator structures. Besides, by changing the phase of the reference arm of the Mach-Zehnder interferometer and setting the parameters of the fiber ring resonator structures properly, we can realize the output of tunable Fano resonance lineshapes. At last, we experimentally investigated the output Fano lineshapes of the proposed structures. The experimental results proved that the previous theoretical analysis is accurate. Furthermore, due to the steep slope of output. We theoretically calculated the structure sensitivity of the proposed structures and made the analysis and comparison of their temperature sensitivities.
