Along with development of intelligent industry, CNC system that representsfundamental mechanical industry plays an increasingly important role in the nationaleconomy. In the meantime, the level of CNC technology's development in a countryrepresents the level of modern manufacturing technology's development.At present, CNC system based on wireless communication has become one ofthe most important advanced manufacturing technologies. Wireless CNC systemintegrates wireless technology with CNC system, and control and manufacturing unitare united to meet the different needs of various manufacturing environment.Compiled-type NC system, a new type of CNC system which has solved thecontradiction between real-time and openness property, has several features aboutdata transmission and connected devices. Traditional CNC system use cable lines totransmit data, but interference between lines would affect system's flexibility andreliability. With a view to overcoming that, in this thesis, USB-WIFI modules wereapplied to implement data communication. According to data transmissionrequirement (up to several GBs), to ensure real-time property, data compression anddecompression technology based on LZW were adopted in the transmission process.In this thesis, compile-rype NC system was analyzed; overall architecture ofwireless communication system based on LZW algorithm and USB-WIFI modulewas established; wireless transmission process was formulated; and hardware designbased on FPGA and software design based on Windows were completed. Datacompression and decompression technology based on LZW were analyzed; theirdesign proposals, divided into software compression based on Windows andhardware decompression based on FPGA, were studied; and data compression anddecompression module was developed. Data transmission mode, drive model andbuilding method of USB-WIFI module were deeply analysed; and USB top driverdevelopment in Windows, construction of USB host system and development ofdriver based on NIOS II processor in FPGA were accomplished. Main functionmodules were researched; experimental testing system was established; andsimulation verification and performance analysis of LZW decompression algorithmand performance testing of USB-WIFI modules were completed.Besides, the feasibility that data could be compressed and decompressed byLZW algorithm and transferred by WIFI technology was verified using the wirelesscommunication system designed in this thesis, and future researches were proposed.
