English is one of the main subjects in senior h igh school entrance exam.And English reading is an important part of the English test of senior high school entrance exam.But it is worth thinking that although the teachers have put great effort and time in the teaching of English reading,the students' reading ability is still inadequate,leading to a relative slow improvement in reading ac hievements.It is obvious that the traditional teaching mode,such as grammar explanation and sentence translation,is no longer in line with the requirements of the new curriculum reform in English teaching.With the deepening of the curriculum reform of basic education,further study and development of English reading teaching mode of junior high schools are inevitable.Taking class 1508 and 1507 of grade eight in the 12 th Middle School of Xiang Tan City as the study object,literature,experimental,questionnaire and interview methods are used in this study to conduct the study from the perspective of independent completion of the reading task.That is,via the application of the task-based teaching philosophy to English reading teaching in junior high s chools and the introduction of task-based teaching theory,the overall design ideas and specific teaching measures are brought forth in consistency with the status of English reading teaching in junior high schools.And meanwhile,the model will be tested in the middle school where the author is working as a teacher,in order to obtain the validity of the mode by the comparison of the results of the comparative class.And then the problems discovered in the test are re-thought and summarized.At the last,the students are surveyed and interviewed,and analyze the collected data.The main issues to be verified are: whether the task-based reading teaching will help the junior high school students to improve the English reading ability;whether the task-based reading teaching is conducive to enhancing the effectiveness of English reading teaching in junior high schools.The test reveals that task-based teaching method can used in English reading teaching of junior high schools and is helpful to the students' reading ability.The study results indeed have certainly facilitated the English teaching in author's school.
