Reading is the main way for learners to acquire language input,and it also occupies an important position in students’ English learning.With the development of the new curriculum reform,the traditional English reading teaching methods need to be adjusted to meet the requirements of English teaching reform.Dialogue teaching embodies equality,communication and cooperation,and believes that reading teaching is the process of dialogue between teacher,student and text,which accords with the requirements of new curriculum reform.In order to find out the present situation of students’ reading,the author conducts a questionnaire survey on 157 subjects before the experiment.According to the results of the questionnaire survey,the author puts forward the hypothesis: applying dialogue teaching to senior high English reading class can improve students’ English reading achievement.In order to verify the hypothesis,the study takes Bakhtin’s dialogue theory and Freire’s dialogue teaching theory as the theoretical basis,and selects two parallel classes taught by the same English teacher in the second grade of Xinye No.3 Senior High School of Nanyang,Henan province,and launches the experiment.Before the experiment,in order to obtain the previous English reading teaching model of the two classes,interview is conducted with the English teacher of the two classes.The results of the interview show that the teacher knows nothing about dialogue teaching.In experimental class,the reading teaching is carried out by dialogue teaching,and traditional teaching method is used in controlled class to explain the influence of dialogue teaching in reading on the students’ English learning by analyzing the changes of students’ pre-test and post-test scores.The author has implemented a four-month dialogue reading teaching by analyzing the experimental data,which proves the effectiveness of the dialogue teaching in high school English reading class,and verifies the correctness of the research hypothesis.Finally,based on the results of the experiment and the request of the students for reading teaching in the post-questionnaire,the author puts forward some suggestions onthe implementation of dialogue reading teaching,hoping this research can provide some reference for high school English teachers.
