For a long time,all aspects of the English classroom teaching are concerned,but the homework,as the extension and supplement of classroom teaching,lacks enough attention,and these research results are scattered.The assignments are still mainly in the form of copy,dull and boring,and thus students’ personality and creativity are bound to a certain extent.What are problems in the current situation of English homework design in higher grades in primary school? What are the reasons? Are there any ways to solve the problems effectively? According to these issues,the author carries out this research.This study,based on multiple intelligence theory,constructivism learning theory,“learn by doing” theory and the “ZPD” theory(the zone of proximal development),selects a primary school in Tai’erzhuang as the research object.Various methods are used in this study,such as literature review,questionnaire survey,interviews and homework analysis to analyze the present situation of homework design.And the problems exist in single form of assignments,performance-oriented,heavy workload and ignoring students’ emotional experience.This paper also makes an analysis of reasons of them.To deal with these problems,the author puts forward English practical homework design and four design principles: practical principle,interesting principle,openness principle,cooperative principle.Through in-depth analysis of teaching materials published by the People’s Education Press,this paper proposes four different kinds of practical homework: interview,hands-on activities,oral discussion and performance,facts and opinions’ distinguishing.The final conclusion of this study is that English practical homework can promote students’ learning interests,enrich their emotional experience and enhance their pragmatic awareness.In a word,this study shows that the practical design of English homework can cultivate students’ autonomy and creativity,and can also provide some help and enlightenment for primary school English teachers. |
