The assignment and revision of homework in primary school is an important part of teaching,which is the consolidation and expansion of students' classroom study.However,teachers and students haven't had deep understanding of homework in the process of English teaching and learning.Moreover,there are many other problems impeding the development of students' comprehensive quality seriously.In addition,Kunming,as a western city of China,the basic education of it is different from Beijing,Shanghai and some other big cities.After experiencing several years of practice and exploration of new curriculum reform,the homework in some primary schools of Kunming hasn't met the requirement of new curriculum reform.Therefore,in order to solve these problems,proper,high-quality and local characteristics homework need to be designed to make students experience the pleasure of success and find their interests from learning English.This study used four methods to investigate the current situation on assignment and reversion of English homework on higher grade students in SS primary school of Kunming,including Literature Research Method,Questionnaire Survey Method,Interviewing Method and Data Statistics Method.According to the results of the investigation,better English homework has been designed.The main contents of this study consists of three parts.First,to investigate the present situation of the assignment and revision of English homework of the upper grade in SS primary school in Kunming.Second,according to the current situation of SS primary school,basing on the theories used in this study,to put forward some principles and methods about homework assignment and revision.Third,in the light of these principles and methods,according to New English Curriculum Standard,basing on the previous study and the content of PEP primary students' book,to optimize the design of English homework.The conclusions of the investigation are mainly in the following aspects.First,from the aspect of the assignment of English homework,the types of it are simple,notrich in form;the content of it is uninteresting;the time and quantity of homework is unreasonable.Second,from the aspect of English homework reversion,the ways of correcting homework is inflexible;the correcting marks are unchangeable;Teachers didn't pay much attention to the remarks of homework.Third,from the aspect of students attitude towards homework,most students have positive attitude about English homework.Moreover,many students are looking forward to seeing their teachers to adjust their traditional ways of assigning and reversing homework.Fourth,from the aspect of parents attention to their kids' homework,some parents didn't attach importance to their children's homework.The principles of homework assignment of this study including the principle of purpose,the principle of interests,the principle of suitability,the principle of autonomy,the principle of practice and the principle of local characteristics.The principle of homework reversion consists of five parts.They are the principle of accuracy,the principle of inspiration,the principle of relevance,the principle of motivation and the principle of communication.In addition,six different kinds of English homework have been designed in this study,including collection homework,survey homework,DIY homework,performance homework,stratify homework,and local characteristics homework.The purpose of this study is to provide suggestions to the assignment and reversion of English homework of SS primary school in Kunming and give some information and help to the following relative study.
