A new round of senior high school mathematics curriculum reform focuses on developing students' core literacy in mathematics.As one of the six core qualities,the importance of the ability of data analysis is very obvious.Data analysis is a kind of literacy that aims at getting data from research objects,sorting,analyzing and extrapolating data by using mathematical methods,and forming knowledge about research objects.The ability of data analysis and the literacy of data analysis are not only the requirement of new curriculum standard,but also the need of social development.Statistics is a subject with specific methods that contains,collects,reorganizes,describes and analyzes data,and also makes assumptions and decisions based on it.Statistical knowledge can cultivate students to observe the real world with mathematical eyes,express the real world in mathematical language,and think about the real world with mathematical thinking.On the basis of summarizing the relevant research and defining the concept of data analysis ability,this paper sets up a theoretical analysis framework for data analysis capability.It can be divided into four levels: collecting data,reorganizing data,analyzing data and data speculation.This paper analyzes the current situation of high school students' data analysis ability and teachers' understanding of data analysis ability by means of test,interview and observation.And it also analyzes the problems existing in the process of developing data analysis ability of high school students in statistics teaching.According to the existing problems,three teaching cases were designed:simple random sampling;estimating the total distribution with the frequency distribution of the sample;and the correlation between variables.Through the research we found that high school students' data analysis ability is poor at present,their attitude towards statistical learning is negative,in statistical teaching teachers do not emphasize the training of data analysis ability in their teaching objectives and they only have a single way of teaching.Besides,teachers do not letstudents experience the whole process of data analysis activities.In order to improve student's abilities on data analysis,four strategies are put forward:(1)Strengthen statistical goals,inspire students' awareness of data analysis;(2)Create problem situations,enable students to actively participate in data analysis activities;(3)Provide practical opportunities for students to experience the whole process of data analysis activities;(4)Using Information Technology,rich data analysis activities.It is hoped that this research can cultivate and develop students' data analysis ability and improve the effectiveness of high school mathematics teaching.
