With the development of our country's economy and the promotion of comprehensive national strength,China finds it developing increasingly close links in the field of politics,economy and culture with all the rest of the other countries in the world.Consequently,English,as one of the most widely-used languages in the world,is performing a vital role.In recent years,with the deepening of the new curriculum reform,the college entrance examination policy has changed.English educators are faced with an urgent and significant mission,namely,how to build up a high school English teaching model according to the English New Curriculum Standards,which puts forward greater challenges to those teachings in the vast rural areas,especially for English teachers and learners who are disadvantaged groups of Chinese education.Just in view of the development of rural economy prior to that of the nation's economy,President Xi Jinping puts forward the policy “targeted measures in poverty alleviation”.Definitely,education is listed among them.Further study of high school English teaching makes a phenomenon easy to come to light: in spite of teachers' and students' hard work,the teaching effect is not ideal enough.Teachers are partly to be blamed.Firstly,some English teachers stand no or little chance to organize teaching activities in English.Secondly,some teachers cling to the traditional teaching methods in the process of their teaching under the new teaching materials.Furthermore,there are always monotonous forms in high school teaching methods.Worse still,it results in disharmonious relationship between teachers and students.Last but not least,teachers attach too much importance to the students' test scores.All the factors above contribute to invalid English teaching as well as difficulty in the all-round development of students.In accordance with effective teaching is implemented,the educational level in rural areas will be improved and so will the quality of the whole students.Therefore,in the background of implementation of the new curriculum reform,there is a great need to explore effective teaching strategies in rural high schools.First of all,this thesis involves the relevant concepts of effective teaching,theoretical basis and research status of effective teaching at home and abroad.Secondly,Questionnaires,interviews,observations,experiments and other research methods are used to investigate fully the effective implementation of effective English teaching in rural senior middle schools through a questionnaire survey of Jiuye Middle School and No.4 Middle School in Mianxian County of Shaanxi Province.It understands the current situation of the implementation of rural high school English teaching,and analyzes the existing teaching problems.It mainly includes the following five obvious existing problems: there are lack of quality English teachers in rural senior high schools;some contents of the current English textbook bring much difficulty to rural students;the English classroom teaching form in rural high schools is characterized by a lack of variety;the relationship between English teachers and students in rural senior high schools is generally weakened;the assessment model for high school English teaching in rural areas is lagging behind.It explores the causes of those problems.Then,it proposes feasible teaching countermeasures according to the specific problems existing in the teaching of rural senior high schools.First,improve the English teachers' level.Establish the teaching philosophy of “people-centered and promoting students' all-round development” so as to improve their own educational accomplishment.Second,integrate the English textbooks,develop and optimize English resources.Make teaching materials "activate" be combining local culture.Develop and optimize school English textbooks.Third,improve the current situation of English teaching,and form a variety of classroom models.Fourth,improve the relationship between English teachers and students and create a harmonious atmosphere.Establishing a positive,lively and harmonious teacher-student relationship contributes to effective teaching.Fifth,improve the assessment of English teaching and establish a various evaluation system.Finally,by summarizing research results and the enlightenment gained from this study,the author analyzes the deficiencies and points out future prospects for effective English teaching in rural senior high schools,which has created a new situation for the study of high school English effective teaching in rural areas of China.
