Learning plan has prevailed for over ten years in China due to its obvious advantages. Great achievements have been made in teaching and learning of many subjects. Senior English learning plan is quite different from any other subject’s learning plans. Senior English learning is affected by many factors. One of the most important factors is the affective aspect. These affective factors chiefly consist of anxiety, inhibition, self-esteem, motivation, risk-taking, attitudes, empathy, and classroom transaction and so on. Senior English learning plan has many advantages, but it has many problems, one of which is little application of affect to the plan. Thus, this thesis focuses upon the study of the specific application of affect in second language learning to Senior English learning plan.To study how to apply affect to Senior English learning plan, it is necessary to begin with the understanding of learning plan and affect. Therefore, the thesis firstly analyzes the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of learning plan in detail, and the theories on basis of which learning plan develops from teaching plan are also presented. Afterwards, the thesis explores the major factors affecting second language acquisition and points out how affective attitudes are listed as one of the comprehensive pragmatic competences in Senior English learning by the Senior English Curriculum Standards with a view to proving the great importance of affect in learning plan. The thesis also argues that the application of affect to senior English learning plan can make up for the disadvantages of learning plan. Based upon the examination of learning plan and affect, the thesis puts forward certain concrete and tentative procedures of the application of affect to Senior English learning plan, theoretically and practically. After a comparatively abstract exploration of several working steps—pre-class knowledge of students, in-class affective teaching methods, and post-class affective measures respectively, the thesis examines the feasibility to apply affect to Senior English learning plan in practice by citing specific examples, In addition, this thesis makes a report, recording and analyzing the experiment of the application of affect to Senior English learning plan in teaching process.The experimental findings suggest that the application of affect to senior English learning plan can greatly help improve the relationship among teachers, students, and their parents, help cultivate students to be complete men, and help heighten students’ interest in and academic results of English learning.
